Mama, please forgive me if I ask you for
food again but lately it seems that Hunger
has become my only friend. He plays with my
mind and evaporates my soul, then He turns
our crops into dust and laughs at my tear dimmed
eyes as I hold out an empty bowl!

You've seen my picture in magazines all
throughout the land but neglected to
lift a finger to save me; better yet, a
helping hand.

Your love of money is killing me, I've known this all
along, but forever I shall beg for your mercy...
till you hear my tragic song!

Your land is filled with milk and honey
while ours just crumbles to dust. We've
thought about asking other countries for
help but yours is the only one we could
truly ever trust!

So what do you say America? Will you
give this kid a chance? You've got so
much to offer us if you'd just give this
situation a second glance.

All I can do is pray that someday you'll
