Pallas And Venus. An Epigram Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCD EEFF GGHHIIGG

The Trojan swain had judged the great disputeA
And beauty's power obtain'd the golden fruitA
When Venus loose in all her naked charmsB
Met Jove's great daughter clad in shining armsB
The wanton goddess view'd the warlike maidC
From head to foot and tauntingly she saidD
-
Yield sister rival yield naked you seeE
I vanquish guess how potent I should beE
If to the field I came in armour dress'dF
Dreadful like thine my shield and terrible my crestF
-
The warrior goddess with disdain repliedG
Thy folly child is equal to thy prideG
Let a brave enemy for once adviseH
And Venus if 'tis possible be wiseH
Thou to be strong must put off every dressI
Thy only armour is thy nakednessI
And more than once or thou art much beliedG
By Mars himself that armour has been triedG
