Sleep Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDCDDC

Love cradling Night lit by the lucent moonA
Most pitiful and mother hearted NightB
Blest armistice in life's tumultuous fightB
Resolving discords to a spheral tuneA
When tired with heat and strenuous toil of noonA
With ceaseless conflict betwixt might and rightB
With ebb and flow of sorrow and delightB
Our panting hearts beneath their burdens swoonA
-
To thee O star eyes comforter we creepC
Earth's ill used step children to thee make moanD
As hiding in thy dark skirts' ample sweepC
Poor debtors whose brief life is not their ownD
For dunned by Death to whom we owe its loanD
Give us O Night the interest paid in sleepC
