Oh Lord, hear out my earnest prayer.
Don’t let me see the girl I love in my sleep again.
Don’t let her sit beside me on a hassock.
Don’t let me want to cuddle her tightly.
Please don’t let her turn her back to me.
Don’t let her pretend not to notice I’m there.
Don’t let strong emotions overwhelm us.
Don’t let her turn around and rest her head on my chest.
Don’t let her put her arms around me like a baby.
Don’t let me hold her as closely as I used to hold her.
Please don’t let our hearts burn with passion,
And don’t let tears of love fall from our eyes.
Lord, please don’t let her lips touch mine again.
Don’t let unreal things appear to me.
Don’t let me have recurring dreams about her.
Make me stop hoping for her love in vain.
Don’t let the memories of yesteryear haunt me forever,
For my heart can no longer bear the pain.
