Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGH IJKLIMNO PNQJRNSAI recall the warm night beneath the Mexican moonlight | A |
It was there I lost my beautiful Spanish maiden | B |
We had planned to meet at the caf earlier that evening | C |
But something went awfully wrong with our plan | D |
She might have had some other important engagement | E |
I was in love with her and so anxious to be with her | F |
It was almost midnight and there was still no sign of Maria | G |
So I left the cafeteria in sadness and headed for home | H |
- | |
Suddenly I heard the soft strumming of guitars | I |
And the song that was playing invigorated my heart | J |
I walked along the path in the light of the Spanish moon | K |
And I saw Maria dancing with a man on the bridge | L |
Her misleading eyes were captivating as the stars | I |
He was standing in front of her gently stroking her face | M |
And then she kissed him just as she used to kiss me | N |
I could almost taste the sweetness of her tender lips | O |
- | |
I froze for a moment and my throbbing heart sank | P |
I hid carefully behind the oak tree so they could not see me | N |
I watched in astonishment while she flirted with him | Q |
And I stayed there until she theatrically gave him her heart | J |
She left me standing there alone in the darkness | R |
The sound of Spanish music echoed deep in the valley | N |
How could I ever forget the painful experience I had | S |
I lost Maria to a dreamer beneath the Mexican moonlight | A |
