Beneath The Mexican Moonlight Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGH IJKLIMNO PNQJRNSA

I recall the warm night beneath the Mexican moonlightA
It was there I lost my beautiful Spanish maidenB
We had planned to meet at the caf earlier that eveningC
But something went awfully wrong with our planD
She might have had some other important engagementE
I was in love with her and so anxious to be with herF
It was almost midnight and there was still no sign of MariaG
So I left the cafeteria in sadness and headed for homeH
-
Suddenly I heard the soft strumming of guitarsI
And the song that was playing invigorated my heartJ
I walked along the path in the light of the Spanish moonK
And I saw Maria dancing with a man on the bridgeL
Her misleading eyes were captivating as the starsI
He was standing in front of her gently stroking her faceM
And then she kissed him just as she used to kiss meN
I could almost taste the sweetness of her tender lipsO
-
I froze for a moment and my throbbing heart sankP
I hid carefully behind the oak tree so they could not see meN
I watched in astonishment while she flirted with himQ
And I stayed there until she theatrically gave him her heartJ
She left me standing there alone in the darknessR
The sound of Spanish music echoed deep in the valleyN
How could I ever forget the painful experience I hadS
I lost Maria to a dreamer beneath the Mexican moonlightA
