A Vain Pursuit Of Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACD AEFGE FEAHD EEFAF

A svelte girl recently moved to the neighbourhoodA
Her transcendent beauty catches my eyesB
I greet her warmly when she s walking past my gateA
She told me her name and I told her mineC
I wonder if she s interested in middle aged menD
-
Every time I look at her it breaks my heartA
Her charm and her seductive walk captivate meE
And I believe I m falling in love with herF
I didn t want this to happen at my ageG
For if I fall in love with her she might reject meE
-
I m hesitant about telling Katie I have feelings for herF
For I don t think she ll fall in love with meE
I pursued other pretty girls whom I lovedA
But regrettably I didn t win the love of any of themH
I don t want to pursue a girl in vain againD
-
All the girls of my past love affairs pursued meE
I don t know how it feels to pursue a girl successfullyE
If Katie makes advances to me I ll date herF
But that s not how I want things to turn outA
I want her to accept me when I express my love to herF
