| I was walking on a long road with my wife | B |

| The streetlights were far apart | D |
| So the road was mostly dark | E |
| The night was cold because it had rained earlier | F |
| We felt a little drizzle | G |
| Puddles of water were on the road | H |

| She stopped suddenly near an intersection | I |
| I was wondering why she stopped | J |
| She saw something on the other side of the road | H |
| And she was gazing at it in astonishment | K |
| I didn t see anything unusual | G |
| Something was drawing her attention | I |
| I didn t know what it was | L |

| She went across the road and headed for the corner | F |
| I asked her where she was going | M |

| She seemed to have lost cognisance of things around her | F |

| I walked back up the road to see what happened to her | F |

| For I thought they would think I was crazy | N |
