Woman To Child Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCD EFGHI JKLLK CMNNM

You who were darkness warmed my fleshA
where out of darkness rose the seedB
Then all a world I made in meC
all the world you hear and seeC
hung upon my dreaming bloodD
-
There moved the multitudinous starsE
and coloured birds and fishes movedF
There swam the sliding continentsG
All time lay rolled in me and senseH
and love that knew not its belovedI
-
O node and focus of the worldJ
I hold you deep within that wellK
you shall escape and not escapeL
that mirrors still your sleeping shapeL
that nurtures still your crescent cellK
-
I wither and you break from meC
yet though you dance in living lightM
I am the earth I am the rootN
I am the stem that fed the fruitN
the link that joins you to the nightM
