The Bull Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACB CDAED FGHIG

In the olive darkness of the sally treesA
silently moved the air from night to dayB
The summer grass was thick with honey daisiesA
where he a curled god a red JupiterC
heavy with power among his women layB
-
But summer's bubble sound of sweet creek waterC
dwindles and is silent the seeding grassesD
grow harsh and wind and frost in the black salliesA
roughen the sleek haired slopes Seek him out thenE
the angry god betrayed whose godhead passesD
-
and down the hillsides drive him from his mobF
What enemy steals his strength what rival stealsG
his mastered cows His thunders powerlessH
the red storm of his body shrunk with fearI
runs the great bull the dogs upon his heelsG
