Request To A Year Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH BIJ KLGL EMNM OO

If the year is meditating a suitable giftA
I should like it to be the attitudeB
of my great great grandmotherC
legendary devotee of the artsD
-
who having eight childrenE
and little opportunity for painting picturesF
sat one day on a high rockG
beside a river in SwitzerlandH
-
and from a difficult distance viewedB
her second son balanced on a small ice flow drift down the current toward a waterfallI
that struck rock bottom eighty feet belowJ
-
while her second daughter impededK
no doubt by the petticoats of the dayL
stretched out a last hope alpenstockG
which luckily later caught him on his wayL
-
Nothing it was evident could be doneE
And with the artist's isolating eyeM
My great great grandmother hastily sketched the sceneN
The sketch survives to prove the story byM
-
Year if you have no Mother's day present plannedO
Reach back and bring me the firmness of her handO
