| beside a river in Switzerland | H |

| and from a difficult distance viewed | B |
| her second son balanced on a small ice flow drift down the current toward a waterfall | I |
| that struck rock bottom eighty feet below | J |

| while her second daughter impeded | K |
| no doubt by the petticoats of the day | L |
| stretched out a last hope alpenstock | G |
| which luckily later caught him on his way | L |

| Nothing it was evident could be done | E |
| And with the artist's isolating eye | M |
| My great great grandmother hastily sketched the scene | N |
| The sketch survives to prove the story by | M |
