Metho Drinker Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDBCECA FGHDGHIIF

Under the death of winter's leaves he liesA
who cried to Nothing and the terrible nightB
to be his home and bread 'O take from meC
the weight and waterfall ceaseless TimeD
that batters down my weakness the knives of lightB
whose thrust I cannot turn the crueltyC
of human eyes that dare not touch nor pity 'E
Under the worn leaves of the winter cityC
safe in the house of Nothing now he liesA
-
His white and burning girl his woman of fireF
creeps to his heart and sets a candle thereG
to melt away the flesh that hides from boneH
to eat the nerve that tethers him in timeD
He will lie warm until the bone is bareG
and on a dead dark moon he wakes aloneH
It was for Death he took her death is but thisI
and yet he is uneasy under her kissI
and winces from that acid of her desireF
