Los Dos Pràncipes (the Two Princes) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDFGFGHIHJGG KLK MNMNOBO PQPQGG

The palace is in mourningA
The king cries on his throneB
The queen is also cryingA
She's crying all aloneB
In handkerchiefs of pure laceC
They cry in disbeliefD
The nobles of the palaceE
Beside themselves with griefD
The royal horses once so brightF
Are now in black arrayG
The horses did not eat last nightF
Nor wanted food todayG
The courtyard's stately laurel treeH
Is stripped of all its leavesI
The people of the countryH
All carry laurel wreathsJ
The king's son has died todayG
The king's heir has passed awayG
-
Upon the hill the shepherdK
Has built his simple homeL
The shepherdess to ask is heardK
'Why does the sun still come '-
With lowered heads the sheepM
Approach the shepherd's doorN
A box he's lining long and deepM
Upon the cottage floorN
A sad dog keeps watch thereO
From the hut is heard a moanB
'Little bird take me whereO
My precious one has flown '-
The weeping shepherd takes the spadeP
And sinks it in the bowerQ
And in the hole that he has madeP
The shepherd lays his flowerQ
The shepherd's son has died todayG
The shepherd's heir has passed awayG
