Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEGGGHGGH IJIJKIKIIGIGGGIGGI

Th' sun shone breet at early mornA
Burds sang sweetly on the treesB
Larks wor springin from the cornA
Tender blossoms sowt the breezeB
Jockey whistled as he wentC
O'er rich meadows wet wi' dewD
In his breast wor sweet contentC
For his wants an cares were fewD
Dolly passed him on his wayE
Fresh an sweet an fair wor sheF
Jockey lost his heart that dayE
To the maid ov SalterleeG
Jockey an DollyG
Had allus been jollyG
Till Love shot his arrow an wounded the twainH
Their days then pass sadlyG
Yet man an maid madlyG
In spite ov the torture they nursed the sweet painH
-
Since that day did jockey pineI
Dolly shyly kept apartJ
Still shoo milk'd her willin kineI
Tho' shoo nursed a braikin heartJ
But one neet they met i'th' foldK
When a silv'ry mooin did shineI
Jockey then his true love toldK
An he axt will't thou be mineI
Tears ov joy filled Dolly's eenI
As shoo answered modestlyG
Dolly nah is Jockey's queenI
Th' bonniest wife i' SalterleeG
Jockey an DollyG
Are livin an jollyG
May blessins for ivver attend i' ther trainI
Ther days they pass gladlyG
Noa moor they feel sadlyG
For two hearts are for ivver bound fast i' Love's chainI
