The trays are up the hedges broken down | B |
That fenced the haystack and the remnant shines | A |

And where suns peep in every sheltered place | C |
The little early buttercups unfold | D |
A glittering star or two till many trace | C |
The edges of the blackthorn clumps in gold | D |
And then a little lamb bolts up behind | E |
The hill and wags his tail to meet the yoe | F |
And then another sheltered from the wind | E |
Lies all his length as dead and lets me go | F |
Close bye and never stirs but baking lies | G |
With legs stretched out as though he could not rise | G |
