To The Violet. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL MNON PQPQ RASA

Sweet tiny flower of darkly hueA
Lone dweller in the pathless shadeB
How much I love thy pensive blueA
Of innocence so well display'dB
-
What time the watery skies are fullC
Of streaming dappled clouds so paleD
And sideling rocks more white than woolC
Portending snowy sleet or hailD
-
I 'gin to seek thy charming flowerE
Along each hedge row's mossy seatF
Where dithering many a cold bleak hourE
I've hugg'd myself in thy retreatF
-
What makes me cherish such fond tasteG
What makes such raptures spring for theeH
Is that thou lov'st the dreary wasteG
Which is so well belov'd by meH
-
For solitude should be my choiceI
Could I this labouring life resignJ
To see the little birds rejoiceI
And thy sweet flowers in clusters shineJ
-
I'd choose a cave beside some rockK
Clos'd in all round with ash and thornL
That near my door thy tribe might flockK
To shed their sweets in early mornL
-
But ah that way would never proveM
Means to sustain impending lifeN
I must forego those scenes I loveO
And still beat on with needy strifeN
-
Sweet flower we must reverse the planP
Nor cherish such romantic viewsQ
I'll strive to seek thee when I canP
Through noontide heat or evening dewsQ
-
To spring return with all thy trainR
Of flowrets cloth'd in varied hueA
I long to see that morn againS
Which brings to light the violet blueA
