The Request. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEFGH IHIHJGKGH LMNMOPQGH RSRSIGIGH

Now the sun his blinking beamA
Behind yon mountain losesB
And each eye that might evil deemA
In blinded slumber closesC
Now the field's a desert grownD
Now the hedger's fled the groveE
Put thou on thy russet gownF
Shielded from the dews my loveG
And wander out with meH
-
We have met at early dayI
Slander rises earlyH
Slander's tongues had much to sayI
And still I love thee dearlyH
Slander now to rest has goneJ
Only wakes the courting doveG
Slily steal thy bonnet onK
Leave thy father's cot my loveG
And wander out with meH
-
Clowns have pass'd our noon day screenL
'Neath the hawthorn's blossomM
Seldom there the chance has beenN
To press thee to my bosomM
Ploughmen now no more appearO
Night winds but the thorn bough moveP
Squander not a minute hereQ
Lift the door latch gently loveG
And wander out with meH
-
Oh the hour so sweet as thisR
With friendly night surroundedS
Left free to talk embrace and kissR
By virtue only boundedS
Lose it not make no delayI
Put on thy doublet hat and gloveG
Sly ope the door and steal awayI
And sweet 'twill be my only loveG
To wander out with theeH
