The Morning Walk Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCCCB DDDBCCCB EEFBGGGB HHIBJJJB KKKBCCCB

The linnet sat upon its nestA
By gales of morning softly prestA
His green wing and his greener breastA
Were damp with dews of morningB
The dog rose near the oaktree grewC
Blush'd swelling 'neath a veil of dewC
A pink's nest to its prickles grewC
Right early in the morningB
-
The sunshine glittered gold the whileD
A country maiden clomb the stileD
Her straw hat couldn't hide the smileD
That blushed like early morningB
The lark with feathers all wet throughC
Looked up above the glassy dewC
And to the neighbouring corn field flewC
Fanning the gales of morningB
-
In every bush was heard a songE
On each grass blade the whole way longE
A silver shining drop there hungF
The milky dew of morningB
Where stepping stones stride o'er the brookG
The rosy maid I overtookG
How ruddy was her healthy lookG
So early in the morningB
-
I took her by the well turned armH
And led her over field and farmH
And kissed her tender cheek so warmI
A rose in early morningB
The spiders' lacework shone like glassJ
Tied up to flowers and cat tail grassJ
The dew drops bounced before the lassJ
Sprinkling the early morningB
-
Her dark curls fanned among the galesK
The skylark whistled o'er the valesK
I told her love's delightful talesK
Among the dews of morningB
She crop't a flower shook oft' the dewC
And on her breast the wild rose grewC
She blushed as fair as lovely tooC
The living rose of morningB
