The Maiden I Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEFFD EGEGHHEED EIEIGGEED

How sweet are Spring wild flowers They grow past the countingA
How sweet are the wood paths that thread through the groveB
But sweeter than all the wild flowers of the mountainC
Is the beauty that walks here the maiden I loveD
Her black hair in tanglesE
The rose briar manglesE
Her lips and soft cheeksF
Where love ever speaksF
O there's nothing so sweet as the maiden I loveD
-
It was down in the wild flowers among brakes and bramblesE
I met the sweet maiden so dear to my eyeG
In one of my Sunday morn midsummer ramblesE
Among the sweet wild blossoms blooming close byG
Her hair it was coal blackH
Hung loose down her backH
In her hand she held posiesE
Of blooming primrosesE
The maiden who passed on the morning of loveD
-
Coal black was her silk hair that shaded white shouldersE
Ruby red were her ripe lips her cheeks of soft hueI
Her sweet smiles enchanting the eyes of beholdersE
Thrilled my heart as she rambled the wild blossoms throughI
Like the pearl her bright eyeG
In trembling delight IG
Kissed her cheek like a roseE
In its gentlest reposeE
O there's nothing so sweet as the maiden I loveD
