The Last Of April. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCDCDDEFEG| Old April wanes and her last dewy morn | A |
| Her death bed steeps in tears to hail the May | B |
| New blooming blossoms 'neath the sun are born | A |
| And all poor April's charms are swept away | B |
| The early primrose peeping once so gay | B |
| Is now chok'd up with many a mounting weed | C |
| And the poor violet we once admir'd | D |
| Creeps in the grass unsought for flowers succeed | C |
| Gaudy and new and more to be desired | D |
| And of the old the school boy seemeth tired | D |
| So with us all poor April as with thee | E |
| Each hath his day the future brings my fears | F |
| Friends may grow weary new flowers rising be | E |
| And my last end like thine be steep'd in tears | G |
