The Beautiful Stranger Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFF GG

I cannot know what country owns thee nowA
With France's forest lilies on thy browA
When England knew thee thou wert passing fairB
I never knew a foreign face so rareB
The world of waters rolls and rushes byeC
Nor lets me wander where thy vallies lieC
But surely France must be a pleasant placeD
That greets the stranger with so fair a faceD
The English maiden blushes down the danceE
But few can equal the fair maid of FranceE
I saw thee lovely and I wished thee mineF
And the last song I ever wrote is thineF
-
Thy country's honour on thy face attendsG
Men may be foes but beauty makes us friendsG
