Summer Evening Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFHII

The frog half fearful jumps across the pathA
And little mouse that leaves its hole at eveB
Nimbles with timid dread beneath the swathC
My rustling steps awhile their joys deceiveB
Till past and then the cricket sings more strongD
And grasshoppers in merry moods still wearE
The short night weary with their fretting songD
Up from behind the molehill jumps the hareE
Cheat of his chosen bed and from the bankF
The yellowhammer flutters in short fearsG
From off its nest hid in the grasses rankF
And drops again when no more noise it hearsH
Thus nature's human link and endless thrallI
Proud man still seems the enemy of allI
