My Early Home Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFGHIDID JKJLLDLD

Here sparrows build upon the treesA
And stockdove hides her nestB
The leaves are winnowed by the breezeA
Into a calmer restB
The black cap's song was very sweetC
That used the rose to kissD
It made the Paradise completeC
My early home was thisD
-
The red breast from the sweetbriar bushE
Drop't down to pick the wormF
On the horse chestnut sang the thrushG
O'er the house where I was bornH
The moonlight like a shower of pearlsI
Fell o'er this bower of blissD
And on the bench sat boys and girlsI
My early home was thisD
-
The old house stooped just like a caveJ
Thatched o'er with mosses greenK
Winter around the walls would raveJ
But all was calm withinL
The trees are here all green agenL
Here bees the flowers still kissD
But flowers and trees seemed sweeter thenL
My early home was thisD

Maire Maguinness: This is a beautiful poem, full of imagery and nostalgia. The seemingly a better place to live.
