May-day. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GECE HIJI KLML NOPO QRSI OBTB UGCV QOPO

Now happy swains review the plainsA
And hail the first of MayB
Now linnets sing to welcome springC
And every soul is gayB
-
Hob joyful soul high rears the poleD
With wild flower wreaths entwin'dE
Then tiptoe round the maidens boundF
All sorrow lags behindE
-
Branches of thorn their doors adornG
With every flowret lin'dE
That earliest spring essays to bringC
Or searching maids can findE
-
All swains resort to join the sportH
E'en age will not disdainI
But oft will throng to hear the songJ
And view the jocund trainI
-
I often too had us'd to goK
The rural mirth to shareL
But what alas l time brought to passM
Soon made me absent thereL
-
My Colin died the village prideN
O hapless miseryO
Then sports adieu with him they flewP
For he was all to meO
-
And May no more shall e'er restoreQ
To me those joys againR
There's no relief but urging griefS
For memory wakens painI
-
To think how he so dear to meO
Had us'd to join the playB
And O so dear such pleasures wereT
He gloried in the dayB
-
But now sad scene he's left the greenU
And Lubin here to mournG
Then flowers may spring and birds may singC
And May day may returnV
-
But never more can they restoreQ
Their rural sports to meO
No no adieu with him they flewP
For he was all to meO
