Market Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDAEFGBEHICI| With arms and legs at work and gentle stroke | A |
| That urges switching tail nor mends his pace | B |
| On an old ribbed and weather beaten horse | C |
| The farmer goes jogtrotting to the fair | D |
| Both keep their pace that nothing can provoke | A |
| Followed by brindled dog that snuffs the ground | E |
| With urging bark and hurries at his heels | F |
| His hat slouched down and great coat buttoned close | G |
| Bellied like hooped keg and chuffy face | B |
| Red as the morning sun he takes his round | E |
| And talks of stock and when his jobs are done | H |
| And Dobbin's hay is eaten from the rack | I |
| He drinks success to corn in language hoarse | C |
| And claps old Dobbin's hide and potters back | I |
