Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFGFGLife thou art misery or as such to me | A |
One name serves both or I no difference see | A |
Tho' some there live would call thee heaven below | B |
But that's a nickname I've not learn'd to know | B |
A wretch with poverty and pains replete | C |
Where even useless stones beneath his feet | C |
Cannot be gather'd up to say they're mine | D |
Sees little heaven in a life like thine | D |
Hope lends a sorry shelter from thy storms | E |
And largely promises but small performs | E |
O irksome life were but this hour my last | F |
This weary breath fain sighs for its decay | G |
O that my soul death's dreary vale had past | F |
And met the sunshine of a better day | G |
