Invitation To Eternity Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCBB DEDEBBFF BBGGBBHH IIJKLLBB

Say wilt thou go with me sweet maidA
Say maiden wilt thou go with meB
Through the valley depths of shadeA
Of bright and dark obscurityB
Where the path has lost its wayC
Where the sun forgets the dayC
Where there's nor light nor life to seeB
Sweet maiden wilt thou go with meB
-
Where stones will turn to flooding streamsD
Where plains will rise like ocean's wavesE
Where life will fade like visioned dreamsD
And darkness darken into cavesE
Say maiden wilt thou go with meB
Through this sad non identityB
Where parents live and are forgotF
And sisters live and know us notF
-
Say maiden wilt thou go with meB
In this strange death of life to beB
To live in death and be the sameG
Without this life or home or nameG
At once to be and not to beB
That was and is not yet to seeB
Things pass like shadows and the skyH
Above below around us lieH
-
The land of shadows wilt thou traceI
Nor look nor know each other's faceI
The present marred with reason goneJ
And past and present both as oneK
Say maiden can thy life be ledL
To join the living and the deadL
Then trace thy footsteps on with meB
We are wed to one eternityB
