I Am Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACAB DEDDFF GHGHII

I am yet what I am none cares or knowsA
My friends forsake me like a memory lostB
I am the self consumer of my woesA
They rise and vanish in oblivious hostC
Like shadows in love's frenzied stifled throesA
And yet I am and live like vapors tossedB
-
Into the nothingness of scorn and noiseD
Into the living sea of waking dreamsE
Where there is neither sense of life or joysD
But the vast shipwreck of my life's esteemsD
Even the dearest that I love the bestF
Are strange nay rather stranger than the restF
-
I long for scenes where man hath never trodG
A place where woman never smiled or weptH
There to abide with my Creator GodG
And sleep as I in childhood sweetly sleptH
Untroubling and untroubled where I lieI
The grass below above the vaulted skyI
