First Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EDEBFBFB GHGHEIEI

I ne'er was struck before that hourA
With love so sudden and so sweetB
Her face it bloomed like a sweet flowerA
And stole my heart away completeB
My face turned pale as deadly paleC
My legs refused to walk awayD
And when she looked what could I ailC
My life and all seemed turned to clayD
-
And then my blood rushed to my faceE
And took my eyesight quite awayD
The trees and bushes round the placeE
Seemed midnight at noondayB
I could not see a single thingF
Words from my eyes did startB
They spoke as chords do from the stringF
And blood burnt round my heartB
-
Are flowers the winter's choiceG
Is love's bed always snowH
She seemed to hear my silent voiceG
Not love's appeals to knowH
I never saw so sweet a faceE
As that I stood beforeI
My heart has left its dwelling placeE
And can return no moreI
