Farmer's Boy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFGFH

He waits all day beside his little flockA
And asks the passing stranger what's o'clockA
But those who often pass his daily tasksB
Look at their watch and tell before he asksB
He mutters stories to himself and liesC
Where the thick hedge the warmest house suppliesC
And when he hears the hunters far and wideD
He climbs the highest tree to see them rideD
He climbs till all the fields are blea and bareE
And makes the old crow's nest an easy chairE
And soon his sheep are got in other groundsF
He hastens down and fears his master comeG
He stops the gap and keeps them all in boundsF
And tends them closely till it's time for homeH
