Evening Primrose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFGGHI

When once the sun sinks in the westA
And dewdrops pearl the evening's breastA
Almost as pale as moonbeams areB
Or its companionable starB
The evening primrose opes anewC
Its delicate blossoms to the dewC
And hermit like shunning the lightD
Wastes its fair bloom upon the nightD
Who blindfold to its fond caressesE
Knows not the beauty it possessesF
Thus it blooms on while night is byG
When day looks out with open eyeG
Bashed at the gaze it cannot shunH
It faints and withers and is goneI
