Evening Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG FHFH

'Tis evening the black snail has got on his trackA
And gone to its nest is the wrenB
And the packman snail too with his home on his backA
Clings to the bowed bents like a wenB
-
The shepherd has made a rude mark with his footC
Where his shadow reached when he first cameD
And it just touched the tree where his secret love cutE
Two letters that stand for love's nameD
-
The evening comes in with the wishes of loveF
And the shepherd he looks on the flowersG
And thinks who would praise the soft song of the doveF
And meet joy in these dew falling hoursG
-
For Nature is love and finds haunts for true loveF
Where nothing can hear or intrudeH
It hides from the eagle and joins with the doveF
In beautiful green solitudeH
