December Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAABCBC DEDEFGFG CHCHCICI

While snow the window panes bedimA
The fire curls up a sunny charmA
Where creaming o'er the pitcher's rimA
The flowering ale is set to warmA
Mirth full of joy as summer beesB
Sits there its pleasures to impartC
And children 'tween their parent's kneesB
Sing scraps of carols o'er by heartC
-
And some to view the winter weathersD
Climb up the window seat with gleeE
Likening the snow to falling feathersD
In fancy infant ecstasyE
Laughing with superstitious loveF
O'er visions wild that youth suppliesG
Of people pulling geese aboveF
And keeping Christmas in the skiesG
-
As tho' the homestead trees were drestC
In lieu of snow with dancing leavesH
As tho' the sun dried martin's nestC
Instead of ickles hung the eavesH
The children hail the happy dayC
As if the snow were April's grassI
And pleas'd as 'neath the warmth of MayC
Sport o'er the water froze as glassI
