Childhood. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCBCBBDEDE

What trifles touch our feelings when we viewA
The simple scenes of Childhood's early dayB
Pausing on spots where gather'd blossoms grewA
Or favour'd seats of many a childish playB
Bush dyke or wood where painted pooties layB
Where oft we've crept and crept the shades amongC
Where ivy hung old roots bemoss'd with greyB
Where nettles oft our infant fingers stungC
And tears would weep the gentle wounds awayB
Ah gentle wounds indeed I well may sayB
To those sad Manhood's tortur'd passage foundD
Where naked Fate each day new pangs doth feelE
Clearing away the brambles that surroundD
Inflicting tortures death can only healE
