Autumn Birds Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCCCDDEEFGHH

The wild duck startles like a sudden thoughtA
And heron slow as if it might be caughtB
The flopping crows on weary wings go byC
And grey beard jackdaws noising as they flyC
The crowds of starnels whizz and hurry byC
And darken like a clod the evening skyC
The larks like thunder rise and suthy roundD
Then drop and nestle in the stubble groundD
The wild swan hurries hight and noises loudE
With white neck peering to the evening clowdE
The weary rooks to distant woods are goneF
With lengths of tail the magpie winnows onG
To neighbouring tree and leaves the distant crowH
While small birds nestle in the edge belowH
