Queen's Jubilee Ode, 1887 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EEFF GGHH IIJJ KKHH LLMM

Canada proves her devotionA
To her who rules o'er land and seaB
For loyal thoughts do hearts inspireC
To make more glorious empireD
-
'Tis fifty years since Queen was crownedE
Her brow with golden circlet boundE
She was a girl graceful fairF
And has felt joy and anxious careF
-
Happy years of married lifeG
She enjoyed as Albert's wifeG
But Albert died the wise and goodH
And she was left in widowhoodH
-
In her reign the power of steamI
On land and sea became supremeI
And all now have strong relianceJ
In fresh victories of scienceJ
-
For man doth lightning now employK
And uses it for message boyK
And when he wants a brilliant lightH
Electric orbs do shine most brightH
-
Britain's empire is extendingL
Truth and justice ever blendingL
May strife and discord ever ceaseM
And jubilee inaugurate peaceM
