News o' grief had overteakenA
Dark eyed Fanny now vorseakenA
There she zot wi' breast a heavenA
While vrom zide to zide wi' grievenA
Vell her head wi' tears a creepenA
Down her cheaks in bitter weepenA
There wer still the ribbon bowB
She tied avore her hour ov woeC
An' there wer still the hans that tied itD
Hangen whiteE
Or wringen tightE
In ceare that drowned all ceare bezide itD
-
When a man wi' heartless slightenA
Mid become a maiden's blightenA
He mid cearelessly vorseake herF
But must answer to her MeakerF
He mid slight wi' selfish blindnessG
All her deeds o' loven kindnessG
God wull waigh 'em wi' the slightenA
That mid be her love's requitenA
He do look on each deceiverF
He do knowA
What weight o' woeA
Do break the heart ov ev'ry grieverF
