The Needed One Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACBC CDCEDA DFDGFG AHIHAI JCJGCG

'Twas not rare versatilityA
Nor gift of poesy or artB
Nor piquant sparkling jeux d'espritA
Which at the call of fancy comeC
That touched the universal heartB
And won the world's encomiumC
-
It was not beauty's potent charmC
For admiration followed herD
Unmindful of the rounded armC
The fair complexion's brilliancyE
If form and features shapely wereD
Or lacked the grace of symmetryA
-
So not by marked especial powerD
She grew endeared to human thoughtF
But just because in trial's hourD
Was loving service to be doneG
Or sympathy and counsel soughtF
She made herself the needed oneG
-
Oh great the blessedness must beA
Of heart and hand and brain alertH
In projects wise and manifoldI
Impending sorrow to avertH
That duller natures fail to seeA
Or stand aloof severe and coldI
-
And who shall doubt that this is whyJ
In womanhood's florescent primeC
She passed the portals of the skyJ
As if a life thus truly givenG
To purpose pure and act sublimeC
Were needed also up in HeavenG
