Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EEFFGFGF HHIIJIJI HHFFKFLF MMNOMFMF

One of the notable features of Baltimore is the big bellA
that hangs in the city hall tower to strike the hour andB
sound the fire alarm It is called Big Sam and weighsC
poundsD
-
-
A million feet above the groundE
For so it seemed in winding roundE
A million and two moreF
The latter stiff and soreF
While perspiration formed a partG
Of every reeking poreF
I viewed the city like a chartG
Spread out upon the floorF
-
And said Great guide JehoiakinH
To me is meagre pleasure inH
The height of spires and domesI
Of walls like ancient Rome'sI
Nor care I for the marts of tradeJ
Or shelves of musty tomesI
Nor yet for yonder colonnadeJ
Before your palace homesI
-
But curiosity is keenH
To know the city's reigning queenH
Who suiteth well the scoreF
Of suitors at her doorF
Oh which of your divinitiesK
Is she whom all adoreF
Embodiment of truth who isL
The belle of BaltimoreF
-
Veracity's revolving eyesM
Looked up as if to read the skiesM
Why Lor' a miss see darN
De bell is in de airO
Lan' sakes of all de missteriesM
Yo' nebber learn beforeF
Why don' yo' know 'Big Sam' He isM
De bell of BaltimoreF
