Snowflakes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBBBBCDDC BEEFFFGHHG IJJKKKBLLB BMMBBBLNNO| Of specious weight like tissue freight | A |
| The snowflakes are in sparkle pure | B |
| As the rich parure | B |
| A lovely queen were proud to wear | B |
| As volatile as fine and rare | B |
| As thistle down dispersed in air | B |
| Or bits of filmy lace | C |
| Like nature's tear drops strewn around | D |
| That beautify and warm the ground | D |
| But melt upon my face | C |
| - | |
| A ton or more against my door | B |
| They lie and look in form and tint | E |
| Like piles of lint | E |
| When war's alarum roused the land | F |
| Wrought out by woman's loyal hand | F |
| From linen rag and robe and band | F |
| From garments cast aside | G |
| In hospital on battle field | H |
| The shattered limb that bound and healed | H |
| Or stanched life's ebbing tide | G |
| - | |
| I see the gleam of lake and stream | I |
| The silver glint in frost portrayed | J |
| Of the bright cascade | J |
| They bear the moisture of marshes dank | K |
| The dew of the lawn or river bank | K |
| The river itself by sunlight drank | K |
| All these in frigid air | B |
| That strange alembic crystallize | L |
| In odd fantastic shape and size | L |
| Like gems of dazzling glare | B |
| - | |
| Oh of the snow such fancies grow | B |
| 'Till thought is lost in wandering | M |
| And wondering | M |
| If portions of their drapery | B |
| The angel beings sad to see | B |
| So much of earth's impurity | B |
| Have dropped from clearer skies | L |
| As snowflakes hiding stain and blot | N |
| To make this world a fairer spot | N |
| And more like Paradise | O |
