Snowflakes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBBBCDDC BEEFFFGHHG IJJKKKBLLB BMMBBBLNNO

Of specious weight like tissue freightA
The snowflakes are in sparkle pureB
As the rich parureB
A lovely queen were proud to wearB
As volatile as fine and rareB
As thistle down dispersed in airB
Or bits of filmy laceC
Like nature's tear drops strewn aroundD
That beautify and warm the groundD
But melt upon my faceC
-
A ton or more against my doorB
They lie and look in form and tintE
Like piles of lintE
When war's alarum roused the landF
Wrought out by woman's loyal handF
From linen rag and robe and bandF
From garments cast asideG
In hospital on battle fieldH
The shattered limb that bound and healedH
Or stanched life's ebbing tideG
-
I see the gleam of lake and streamI
The silver glint in frost portrayedJ
Of the bright cascadeJ
They bear the moisture of marshes dankK
The dew of the lawn or river bankK
The river itself by sunlight drankK
All these in frigid airB
That strange alembic crystallizeL
In odd fantastic shape and sizeL
Like gems of dazzling glareB
-
Oh of the snow such fancies growB
'Till thought is lost in wanderingM
And wonderingM
If portions of their draperyB
The angel beings sad to seeB
So much of earth's impurityB
Have dropped from clearer skiesL
As snowflakes hiding stain and blotN
To make this world a fairer spotN
And more like ParadiseO
