Perfect Character Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCABD AAEEAAA AAAAAAA AAFFAAA

He lives but half who never stoodA
By the grave of one held dearB
And out of the deep dark lonelinessC
Of a heart bereaved and comfortlessC
From sorrow's crystal plentitudeA
Feeling his loss severeB
Dropped a regretful tearD
-
Oh life's divinest draught doth notA
In the wells of joy aboundA
For the purest streams are those that flowE
Out of the depths of crushing woeE
As from the springs of love and thoughtA
Hid in some narrow moundA
Making it holy groundA
-
He hath been blessed who sometimes kneltA
Owning that God is justA
And in the stillness of cypress shadeA
Rosemary's tender symbol laidA
Upon a cherished shrine and feltA
Strengthened in faith and trustA
Over the precious dustA
-
So perfect character is wroughtA
Rounded and beautifiedA
By the alchemy of that strange alloyF
The intermingling of grief and joyF
So nearer Heaven the spirit broughtA
Bleeding so sorely triedA
Finds its diviner sideA
