My Mother's Hand Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB DDEED FGDDG HIJJI IKLLK JKMMK JJJJJ

My head is aching and I wishA
That I could feel tonightB
One well remembered tender touchC
That used to comfort me so muchC
And put distress to flightB
-
There's not a soothing anodyneD
Or sedative I knowD
Such potency can ever holdE
As that which lovingly controlledE
My spirit long agoD
-
How oft my burning cheek as ifF
By Zephyrus was fannedG
And nothing interdicted painD
Or seemed to make me well againD
So quick as mother's handG
-
'Tis years and years since it was laidH
In her own gentle wayI
On tangled curls of brown and jetJ
Above the downy coverletJ
'Neath which the children layI
-
As bright as blessed sunlight rayI
The past comes back to meK
Her fingers turn the sacred pageL
For a little group of tender ageL
Who gather at her kneeK
-
And when those hands together claspedJ
Devout and still were weK
To whom it seemed God then and thereM
Must surely answer such a prayerM
For none could pray as sheK
-
O buried love with her that passedJ
Into the Silent LandJ
O haunting vision of the nightJ
I see encoffined still and whiteJ
A mother's face and handJ
