Christmas Bells Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEE FFGG HHGG IIJJ

Ring out O bells in joyful chimeA
Again we hail the Christmas timeA
In melting mellow atmosphereB
The crown and glory of the yearB
-
When bitterness distrust and aweC
Dissolve like ice in winter's thawD
Beneath the genial touches ofE
Amenity good will and loveE
-
When flowers of affection growF
Like edelweiss mid alpine snowF
In lives severe and beautilessG
Unused to warmth or tendernessG
-
Let goodness grace and gratitudeH
Revive in music's interludeH
And paean notes till time shall ceaseG
Proclaim the blessed reign of peaceG
-
Ring Christmas bells for at the soundI
Sweet memories of Him aboundI
Who laid aside a diademJ
To be the babe of BethlehemJ
