The Sojourner Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIHI

I woke beneath a soundless sky aloneA
Eyes wide to songs I could not yet commandB
The winds would dance but left me stoneA
A nameless echo cradled in the handB
-
The ground was soft the seasons never stillC
I stumbled through the gardens of the dayD
Taught first to cry then laugh then willC
Each breath a step I shaped along the wayD
-
The gift of voice unfurled upon my tongueE
Words poured like rivers through a broken damF
Yet silence too grew heavy in my lungsG
A sacred art to know and not to damnF
-
Now wiser hands would weigh the words unspokenH
The truths best left to flower in their nightI
A sojourner through lands of dream and tokenH
I learned the louder soul must hold the quiet tightI
