To every son
Befriend your father.
Know him not just as a man,
But as the first mirror of yourself.
If need be, align with your father
Not in blind obedience,
But in understanding.
This becomes the proof
That you can stand among men,
Walk with them,
And not lose yourself.
If you seek a wife,
Choose a daughter who honours her father.
Not as a slave,
But with reverence
A woman who understands
The strength in yielding,
And the grace in respect.
It is a sign
That she can love within order,
And dwell in a house not built of pride.
To every son
Learn patience from silence,
And wisdom from your elders' scars.
Let your strength be quiet,
And your courage rooted in truth.
Do not fight every battle
But be ready for the ones that matter.
And above all
Let honour be your inheritance,
And love, the legacy you leave.
