We need the best we com do election
One person choice com-be our selection
E no gud, we decided to fight corruption
Corruption wey no dey fight us
Na him sit-down dey judge us
Reverse na you be the case.
We need beta people
Na so we begin fight evil
One street one Church
Anywhere you can find a Mosque
Still, it is more of evil
Reverse you're more than a case
It is not enough
We need change
We sought for love
We arrived at lost
Why this challenge?
Why is reverse always the case?
Person wey steal maggi
dey serve for prison
Person wey thief moni
don win man of the season
Nigeria! Nigeria!! Abeg!!!
stop reverse from winning the case.
Follow me make we do a little trace
No be say I wan make case
We hustle, struggle for independence
Getam and remain dependence
62 years of borrowing cases
Abi reverse no be serious case?
E never finish....
Person wey kill person
Na him them dey worship
Save life, help another person
Your own go end in gossip
Reverse is more in our cases.
Reverse Too Dey Win Case
Gilbert Sordebabari
Poet's note: I decided to introduce another face of my poetic prowess. In Nigeria, "reverse is always the case" in almost everything. So, I combined pidgin and English to convey my critique against this societal evil. The problem of corruption and the need for positive change driven by my colloquial and informal choice of diction is to journey the message to all nooks and crannies of the Nigerian society.
