Ribblesdale Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CCDCCD

Earth sweet Earth sweet landscape with leav eacute s throngA
And louch eacute d low grass heaven that dost appealB
To with no tongue to plead no heart to feelB
That canst but only be but dost that longA
-
Thou canst but be but that thou well dost strongA
Thy plea with him who dealt nay does now dealB
Thy lovely dale down thus and thus bids reelB
Thy river and o'er gives all to rack or wrongA
-
And what is Earth's eye tongue or heart else whereC
Else but in dear and dogged man Ah the heirC
To his own selfbent so bound so tied to his turnD
To thriftless reave both our rich round world bareC
And none reck of world after this bids wearC
Earth brows of such care care and dear concernD
