Easter Communion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDEDCD

Pure fasted faces draw unto this feastA
God comes all sweetness to your Lenten lipsB
You striped in secret with breath taking whipsB
Those crooked rough scored chequers may be piecedA
To crosses meant for Jesu's you whom the EastA
With draught of thin and pursuant cold so nipsB
Breathe Easter now you serged fellowshipsB
You vigil keepers with low flames decreasedA
-
God shall o'er brim the measures you have spentC
With oil of gladness for sackcloth and friezeD
And the ever fretting shirt of punishmentE
Give myrrhy threaded golden folds of easeD
Your scarce sheathed bones are weary of being bentC
Lo God shall strengthen all the feeble kneesD
