Rhyme Scheme: AB CCAADDCCCC AAEEFEAACC BBGHCC AAIICCC

And he said If the Lord do not help thee whence shall I help thee out of the barnfloor or out of the winepressA
Kings VIB
-
Thou that on sin's wages starvestC
Behold we have the joy in harvestC
For us was gather'd the first fruitsA
For us was lifted from the rootsA
Sheaved in cruel bands bruised soreD
Scourged upon the threshing floorD
Where the upper mill stone roof'd His headC
At morn we found the heavenly BreadC
And on a thousand altars laidC
Christ our Sacrifice is madeC
-
Thou whose dry plot for moisture gapesA
We shout with them that tread the grapesA
For us the Vine was fenced with thornE
Five ways the precious branches tornE
Terrible fruit was on the treeF
In the acre of GethsemaneE
For us by Calvary's distressA
The wine was racked from the pressA
Now in our altar vessels storedC
Is the sweet Vintage of our LordC
-
In Joseph's garden they threw byB
The riv'n Vine leafless lifeless dryB
On Easter morn the Tree was forthG
In forty days reach'd heaven from earthH
Soon the whole world is overspreadC
Ye weary come into the shadeC
-
The field where He has planted usA
Shall shake her fruit as LibanusA
When He has sheaved us in His sheafI
When He has made us bear his leafI
We scarcely call that banquet foodC
But even our Saviour's and our bloodC
We are so grafted on His woodC
