That Deadly River Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCD AEAFGH IHJHKGL

I saw it flowA
Yes that deadly riverB
Carrying a huge blowA
Our comrades gone foreverB
At first they saw it goodC
That flooded bridge to crossD
-
They couldn't knowA
That therein death existE
To the other side belowA
A deep stream could visitF
I heard them cryG
Once more before they sankH
-
They wailed and wailedI
Nevertheless more water they drankH
No help we offeredJ
In skills we felt blankH
Swimming deep wasn't easyK
We watched them dieG
Our cries couldn't helpL
