What's Their Plan? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDE FGHIJKLLM NLOOO BLPOO

What's their planA
Sure they've nothingB
Hidden in their heartsC
That make them so boldD
And take us for grantedE
-
Yet we like foolsF
Join to plunderG
The fatherland like we've gotten another placeH
The problem with usI
Is that we allow ourselvesJ
To be hoodwinked with sentimentsK
Tribe and religion and unwittinglyL
Give the enemies opportunityL
To rape and plunder our fatherlandM
-
Closing our eyes blocking our earsN
To the atrocities they dailyL
Commit in the land blocking outO
The sounds of dissent and discontentmentO
Coming from the very soul of the landO
-
This ship is sinkingB
Our differences we ought to buryL
To prevent the slide to oblivionP
Or else we'll all be buriedO
Beneath the rubble and wasteO

(C) All Rights Reserved. Poem Submitted on 11/23/2020

Poet's note: The Nigerian state has been undergoing a lot of crises occasioned by bad governance. Policies are made without regards to the welfare and wellbeing of Nigerians who are suffering untold hardship. The poem continues the spirit of the poet's poem "Nigeria is finished!" In it the poet believes the leaders have a hidden plan to destroy the country and thinks the masses are helping to destroy the country by allowing religion and tribe to divide them.
